CHATEAU DE FARGUES

With an impressively lengthy history under its belt, de Fargues was built in 1306 by Cardinal Raymond Guilhem de Fargues. The estate came into the de Lur family in 1472, and has been owned by the de Lur-Saluces family since 1586.

The solid walls of the former fortified château overlook the vines of one of the finest estates in Sauternes. At 170 hectares this is a large estate, however only the magnificent clay-gravel rise next to the old castle is devoted to winegrowing.

The grapes are picked with great care in several waves, the wine aged in barrel for three years to produce an expression of deep complexity with magnificent cellaring potential. The de Fargues compares most favourably with d’Yquem, which says it all, really.
